omicron recordings considerably boosted BA.5 antibodies in early human information

Pfizer and his German partner BioNTech On Thursday, their new omicron boosters said protective antibodies against the dominant adult omicron BA.5 subvariant were substantially increased in the first direct human data released to the public on the new vaccines.

The study looked at blood samples taken from 40 people aged 18 to 55 and 40 people over the age of 55 who received the Omicron booster vaccine. Both age groups saw significant increases in antibodies that block the BA.5 subvariant from entering human cells, according to the companies.

Pfizer also compared 40 people over the age of 55 who received the Omicron booster shot to 40 people of the same age who received a fourth dose of the first-generation vaccine. Participants who received the first-generation vaccine saw a limited rise in antibodies to BA.5, according to the companies.

The time between administration of the third dose and the Omicron booster was approximately 11 months, while the time between the third dose and the fourth dose of the first-generation vaccine was six months.

The initial data suggests that the safety profile of the new boosters is identical to that of the original vaccine, the companies said. Pfizer and BioNTech said they will release more data on the immune response to the vaccines in the coming weeks.

“These early data suggest that our bivalent vaccine is expected to provide better protection against currently circulating variants than the original vaccine and may help stem future increases in cases this winter,” said Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, in an explanation.

US health authorities have approved Pfizer’s Omicron boosters for everyone ages 5 and older. The shots target both the BA.5 sub-variant and the original version of Covid, which first appeared in China almost three years ago. The first generation vaccinations were only developed against the first virus strain.

White House health officials have said the new shots should offer much better protection against Omicron than the first-generation vaccines as the country faces a possible winter surge. First-generation vaccines no longer provide meaningful protection against infections and minor illnesses because the virus has mutated so severely.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the Omicron syringes without direct human data on how they fare against Omicron BA.5, which currently causes most infections in the US. The agency instead relied on human data from a similar shot developed by Pfizer against the original version of Omicron called the BA.1, as well as data from animal studies that directly examined how the shots compared to the BA.5.

The FDA acted quickly to release the syringes this fall to stave off a wave of infections. As a result, Pfizer didn’t have time to collect data from clinical trials. dr Peter Marks, head of the FDA vaccines division, said the agency approved the Omicron shots using the same process used to update flu shots each year, which is also not usually based on human data.

Akademiks says he ended his girlfriend’s combat in viral video

DJ Academics landed in questionable waters when he allegedly decided to control his girlfriend’s behavior.

On Thursday (October 13), Akademiks was a trending topic on social platforms for a video in which he aggressively addresses a brunette woman in public. The woman’s identity was unclear at the time, but he later claimed she was his girlfriend. In the clip, Akademiks could be seen pushing the brunette into a wall while he stood in front of her screaming.

Here’s what the viral video shows

Amid his yelling, Akademiks boasted, “I’m the prize” — unwittingly prompting backlash for the phrase online. Meanwhile, he kept a red-haired woman at a distance. The woman, who was later identified as his girlfriend, eventually took off Akademik’s hat and tossed it across the floor. Towards the end of the clip, the presenter stormed off camera while continuing to yell that he was “the prize.”

Although there was ample opportunity for a physical fight after Akademiks left, both women kept their hands to themselves. However, when the host was between them again, the brunette slapped the redheaded woman.

Literally caught in the middle, Akademiks apparently tried to tell the women apart by shielding his girlfriend against the wall. Meanwhile, the redhead threw punches from behind and at one point grabbed the brunette’s hair. Then a second woman from the off ran towards the altercation and began punching Akademik’s friend from any angle she could sneak her into.

DJ Akademiks enters the shadow room to explain the video

After The Shade Room shared video of the altercation, DJ Akademiks offered an explanation in the comments section. He claimed his girl was “drunk” and mad at women who approach him for photos at a party.

Then the moderator gave another exclusive explanation of what happened in The Shade Room’s comments section.

“I stopped a fight. My girl was drunk and was aggressive towards other women because they approached me for photos at a party,” he wrote. “One of the girls swung onto her and this is where this video starts. I try to get women to relax. But they don’t listen. They fight over pictures and shit.”

Akademiks also exclusively told TSR that he initially separated his girlfriend from another woman after she was pinched. He then went live on social media to further explain the situation.

“At the end of the day, even if my chick doesn’t respect me and frolics in public — admittedly she was drunk — you don’t want someone jumping on your girl,” he said. “But I can’t hit anyone either. I can’t beat the other girls, I just have to be like, ‘yo chill, let’s end it somehow.

Social media users are pulling Akademiks for yelling “I am the prize.”

Despite the physical aspect of the viral clip, social media users clipped at the host. People called him out for claiming to be a prize but also for interfering in a female fight. Keep scrolling to see the online comment!

Mark Kelly beats Blake Masters earlier than midterms

Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, who is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate in the 2022 U.S. midterm election, appears in an undated handout photo provided to Reuters on October 5, 2022.

Handout | Via Reuters

According to Federal Election Commission records, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly outperformed his opponent, Republican Blake Masters, in the third quarter.

Kelly’s campaign went into October, weeks before the midterm elections, with almost six times as much cash.

Kelly’s campaign raised just over $21 million from July 14 through September 30. Masters, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, grossed over $4.7 million during the same period.

Kelly’s campaign went into October with over $13 million, while Masters had just over $2.8 million in his war chest. One of Masters’ largest single donations was a $4,950 contribution from the National Rifle Association. Masters, a wealthy businessman, contributed over $570,000 to his own campaign last quarter.

Election day is November 8th.

The race was once seen as a strong opportunity for Republicans in the fight for Senate control, but Kelly has been ahead in many of the most recent polls. A RealClearPolitics poll average has Kelly 4.5 points ahead. The Cook Political Report describes the race as a “lean Democrat”.

The Senate is split 50-50, with Democrats relying on Vice President Kamala Harris for decisive votes.

A spokesman for Kelly’s team referred CNBC to a recent statement from the campaign manager Emma Brown promotes the Senator’s fundraiser. A spokeswoman for the Masters campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

The Masters’ delay in raising funds from Kelly was an issue throughout the campaign. The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reveals that Kelly had raised over $52 million in the third quarter, while Masters raked in just under $5 million.

Fundraising in the last quarter by both campaigns does not include the amount raised by outside groups supporting each candidate. The Arizona bailout, a pro-Masters super PAC that once received $15 million from Masters ally and former boss billionaire Peter Thiel, raised over $4 million from mid-July through late September. The Super PAC, which has unlimited cash to raise and spend, has over $1.9 million at its disposal.

Although Thiel did not contribute to the Super PAC last quarter, some recent top donations include a $3 million contribution from shipping supplier Richard Uihlein and $1 million from cryptocurrency executives Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.

Thiel has signaled that since Masters stands behind Kelly in both fundraising and polling, he will continue to raise funds for his former employee. Masters was chief operating officer at Thiel Capital until earlier this year.

“We proceed to fund the Ukrainian authorities without cost”

Elon Musk said in a tweet on Saturday that his company SpaceX will continue to fund Starlink satellite internet terminals for the Ukrainian government while it fights invading Russian forces.

“To hell with that,” the billionaire tweeted, “although Starlink is still losing money and other companies are getting billions in taxpayer dollars, we’re just going to keep funding the Ukrainian government for free.”

It wasn’t immediately clear if Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, was sarcastic. In response to a tweet about the move, Musk said, “We should still be doing good deeds.” In response to another tweet that said Musk had already paid taxes that fund Ukraine’s defenses, he said, “Destiny loves irony.”

The tweets follow a statement by Musk on Friday, in which he said SpaceX could not fund Starlink terminals in Ukraine “indefinitely” after a report suggested his space company had asked the Pentagon to foot the bill.

Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In a letter from SpaceX to the Pentagon, the company said that using Starlink in Ukraine could cost nearly $400 million over the next 12 months, according to a report by CNN. SpaceX has signed several contracts with the US government.

The Starlink internet terminals donated by SpaceX were crucial in keeping the Ukrainian military online during the war against Russia, even if the communications infrastructure is destroyed. Russia began invading Ukraine in February.

Musk was criticized by Ukrainian officials earlier this month when he released a Twitter poll assessing support for what he believed to be a likely outcome to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

He appeared to confirm that SpaceX was planning to leave Ukraine in some capacity on Friday, responding to a Twitter post that referred to Ukraine’s ambassador telling Musk to fuck off.

“We’re just following his recommendation,” Musk said.

The SpaceX founder is also in the midst of a $44 billion bid to buy Twitter, which he was trying to walk out of. A judge ruled he has until October 28 to complete the acquisition if he hopes to avoid a trial.

Nicki Minaj and Latto commerce insults after Nicki’s Grammys critique

Nicky Minaj and lact was online last night! Both rappers added an @ to their insults, speaking personally about their family. There were jibes about age, looks, associations with criminals, feigned activism, and more.

On Friday, phrases like “Super Freaky Grandma” and “Karen,” “Scratch-off” trended on Twitter.

Nicki uses Latto’s song to make a mark; Latto reacts

Nicki sparked trend talk on Thursday (October 13) about Recording Academy and how it’s breaking records for award nominations. She expressed dissatisfaction with the categorization of Super Freaky Girl from rap to pop in an Instagram Live. Nicki used Drake as an example of an artist who shared the same criticism in 2017 when Hotline Bling won a Grammy in the rap category despite being a pop song.

She then began comparing the sound, production, and delivery of lyrics in other songs listed in the rap and pop categories, including Latto’s Big Energy.

“If Super Freaky Girl is pop, then so is Big Energy,” Nicki said on Instagram Live. “If you’re taking Super Freaky Girl out of rap and into pop, do the same with Big Energy. Same producers on both songs by the way.” She added, “Let’s be fair. Even if I rap on a pop track, I still rap out.”

Not long after the livestream, Latto seemingly responded in a tweet. She wrote, “Damn, I can’t win if I lose… I can’t even celebrate all these awards/noms.”

Nicki posts a private message from Latto and names it A Karen

Following Latto’s subliminal response, Nicki shared a tweet that revealed an alleged text message from the Clay Co. artist. Nicki pointed out that Latto was a supposed fan, but refused to back up her point on Super Freaky Girl’s categorization.

“This Karen has probably mentioned my name in over 100 interviews. Says she waited in line on Pink Friday with her Barbie necklace on, bangs, pink hair… but today Rubbel decides to keep quiet; instead of standing up for the black woman she called her biggest inspiration,” Nicki tweeted.

The SMS screenshot said: “I agree with you though because we think you need to put my name/song on it to prove your point.”

After that, Big Latto wasted no time and put an @ on it. She responded directly to Nickis Karen/Scratch-off tweet, claiming that going online is exactly what she didn’t want — this time or earlier this year.

“…I wanted to speak out because like I said I agree, but the way you’re going about it seems vicious, especially. after we quit,” Latto tweeted.

In a separate tweet, Latto added: “I’ve ignored countless subtweets since March and addressed you in the DM instead. You ask why I didn’t speak up in your defense…it’s the same answer I gave you when you asked why I didn’t congratulate you. You are literally older than my mom and trying to be a bully @NICKIMINAJ.

And the back-and-forth continued as Nicki replied to Latto’s tweet that he was a bully. Flipping the age insult, she wrote to Latto: “All the time [Nicki] Thought [Latto] was at least 35.”

Nicki denies subtweeting receipts; Dispute involves a rejected feature

At this point, the Growlz began passing alleged receipts to each other. Latto claimed Nicki attacked her in shady posts online, including one about not following a “dud”.

But Nicki dismissed that claim, saying instead that the dud tweet was about a TikTok creator. The creator, also a Barb, later backed up Nicki’s story and revealed herself as the person who wasn’t being followed.

Then the Pink Friday artist said Latto’s behavior and allegations stemmed from Nicki turning down three films, including Big Energy.

“Age shaming if you look like YOU the one heading for 40. Age shaming, but I begged for a feature. Imagine what genes will do 10 years from now,” Nicki tweeted. “Oh, you’re in your 20s. Oh well then. At least it matches your album sales. You sold 20,000 right? Crazy that you flopped. Therefore insane.”

Latto followed Nickis denials with more alleged additions of subtweets against her. Additionally, she claimed Nicki didn’t deny subtweeting her when they spoke on a phone call. Nicki then dropped her receipts – from Latto asking for a feature in multiple messages.

Each time Nicki refused. In a message, she told Latto that they would both know “if it made sense” to work together — perhaps after one of Latto’s tracks “already has a cultural impact.”

And the words nor the sharing of receipts ended there. Latto doubled down on calling Nicki “meticulous with her shadow,” while agreeing with a tweet in which Nicki snubbed her on Queen Radio. She also shared DMs with Minaj showing that she initiated a conversation about the alleged subtweet on Sept. 4.

“Whatsup? I have only shown you the utmost respect and genuine love as a FAN and as someone who has looked up to you,” Latto said in the first message. “It’s a shame you allow others to convince you otherwise. You know what I meant.”

Latto calls Nicki a crazy granny with raping relatives; releases secret recording of convo with Minaj

Denial was a common theme among the women in their argument. The Atlanta-based rapper reiterated her stand on why she chose to stay quiet about Nicki’s Grammys blast. She claimed the rap superstar told her over the phone that she “isn’t blossoming and nobody cares [Latto’s] little song.”

However, at the end of the heated exchange, Latto apologized for muddled Nicki’s words and released a secret recording of their phone conversation.

Let me be specific, I’m sorry. I’m insane for saying that “we” (newer female rappers) thrive and you said nobody cares about my little lyrics, my bad. FYI I only included because I know who I’m playing with #40yroldbully https://t.co/ocBAA3uVeF pic.twitter.com/RHqEu8XFYD

— BIG LATTO 🎰 (@Latto) October 14, 2022

But prior to the online feud with Latto’s record, each of the women hurled more insults. Latto went on to claim Minaj subtweeted her, dragging Nicki’s older brother Jelani Maraj and husband Kenneth Petty into the mix. Although she did not name Jelani or Kenneth, they were implicated in sexual assaults involving underage girls.

In 2020, Jelani was sentenced to 25 years to life for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl at his home in 2015. In July, Kenneth was sentenced to three years probation and 12 months electronic surveillance for failing to register as a sex offender in California. The registration is part of Kenneth’s conviction for the attempted first-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995.

“WAS subverted…super freaky granny is married AND related to fucking rapists,” Latto tweeted. “You won’t bully me B***H! My idol turned into a rival, now you hate it!”

Minaj accuses Latto of being a fake rape advocate

Latto going down with her clapback didn’t stop Minaj from delivering her own sting. The Barbz leader accused Latto of not caring about her association with rapists as she searched for a feature and made other career moves, including choosing producer Dr. Hatch for Big Energy.

“…4. Scratch News Flash. I’ve never raped anyone,” Nicki wrote. I have inspired millions. You are one of them, BOZO.”

Nicki also accused people online of letting others “rape the WORD when dragged.” The rapper also said people don’t blame others for not caring for rape victims “in real life.”

“…They have the same 2 drags on me and one of them doesn’t seem to be on me. That’s how you know when you’re b***h,” Nicki wrote.

Nicki also tried to channel the insult from rapist relatives in Latto’s direction. She retweeted a fan account claiming that Latto’s father was in his late 30s when he got Latto’s mother pregnant.

However, according to multiple outlets, the man’s name in the tweet is not the same as Latto’s father. Latto didn’t respond to that particular claim, though Nicki urged her to “explain that shit.”

Nicki has since deleted most of her tweets about and in response to Latto. At the time of Friday night’s publication, the women had not exchanged any other insults.

Omicron BA.5 in decline as new variants achieve floor: CDC information

The US is facing at least seven different versions of Covid-19 Omicron as the nation heads into winter when health officials anticipate another wave of viral infections.

Although the omicron BA.5 variant remains dominant in the country, it is gradually losing ground to other versions of the virus, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released Friday.

Omicron BA.5 was fragmented into several new but related variants including BQ.1, BQ.1.1 and BF.7. The UK Health Security Agency said in a report earlier this month that these three variants show a growth advantage over BA.5, the most contagious version yet.

In the US, omicron BA.5 accounts for about 68% of all new infections, compared to about 80% in early October. According to CDC data, BQ.1, BQ.1.1, and BF.7 together cause about 17% of new infections.

About 3% of new infections are due to BA.2.75. and BA.2.75.2, which are related to the omicron BA.2 variant that caused a dent in the cases in the spring but was pushed out.

Scientists from Peking University in China found that Omicron BA.2.75.2 and BQ.1.1 were best at evading immunity from previous BA.5 infection and multiple antibody drugs. The study, published in early October, was not peer-reviewed.

dr Ashish Jha, the White House Covid response coordinator, said earlier this week that US public health officials are closely monitoring these variants because they are good at bypassing prior immunity.

“The reason we’re pursuing them is because they’re either much more immune-invasive or they render many of our treatments ineffective,” Jha said. “Those are the two main things that catch our attention.”

But Jha said the new Omicron boosters that the US began rolling out last month should offer better protection against these emerging variants than the first-generation vaccines. The boosters target BA.5 and the resulting variants are all Omicron and most descended from BA.5.

Jha urged all eligible Americans to get the new boosters by Halloween so they have full protection for Thanksgiving when family celebrations are in full swing.

However, the Peking University scientists said the immune avoidance of variants such as BA.2.75.2 and BQ.1.1 could mean that the BA.5 booster shots do not provide broad enough protection.

It’s unclear how much more effective the boosters will prove in the real world. The Food and Drug Administration approved the recordings without direct human data, relying instead on clinical trials of a similar recording developed against the original version of omicron, BA.1.

Pfizer and BioNTech released the first human data from its BA.5 recordings on Thursday. They elicited a significant boost in the immune system against Omicron BA.5 in a laboratory study examining blood samples from adults aged 18 and over, the companies said.

Herschel Walker was a deranged catastrophe when Raphael Warnock wins the Georgia Senate debate

Herschel Walker went silent after 15 minutes as things got weird and strange in a debate won by Sen. Raphael Warnock.

Herschel Walker was asked about a specific idea to bring down inflation, so he blamed Joe Biden and Sen. Warnock. Walker immediately made an effort to talk about the first question. His answer was energy independence. Walker was asked if he would cut military spending or social services spending, and Walker said he would not cut energy spending.

Warnock was asked if he took responsibility for the financial woes of Georgians and Senator Warnock pointed to record profits being made by companies and announced the passage of the largest tax cut for working and middle class families. Warnock then told Walker that he needed to explain why he wanted higher prices. Herschel Walker said diabetics need to eat right. Warnock summarized Walker’s response that it was the diabetics’ fault that insulin was so expensive.

Walker claimed he would cut federal funding from any college that raised tuition:

When asked what he would do to reduce college costs, Herschel Walker (R) suggests ending funding for any institution that charges tuition:

“Any college that increases its costs, I would withdraw any federal funding it will get.” pic.twitter.com/LJhzelWXfz

— The Recount (@therecount) October 14, 2022

Herschel Walker is ten minutes into the debate, bordering on incoherent.

One thing that was clear about Walker was that he opposed student loans and gun control, called for a total ban on abortion, supported raising the price of insulin for diabetics, and opposed the minimum wage.

Tired of being lied to at some point, Sen Warnock said: “We saw tonight that my opponent has a problem with the truth.”

Warnock called Walker for posing as a police officer and threatening a shootout with the police. Walker then claimed he was a police officer, pulled out a prop, and was yelled at by the presenters for ignoring debate rules and having a prop.

Walker’s only point was that Warnock and Biden are the same person, which he kept saying.

Herschel Walker ridiculously claimed that he was very transparent if this was a man who lied about the number of his children because he knew the woman whose abortion he paid for.

Walker claimed that there are no uninsured Georgians in the state when there are 1.5 million.

Herschel Walker was a word salad disaster

Herschel Walker ran out of memorized talking points about 15 minutes into the debate, and then things got weird and crazy. At one point, Walker began yelling at Warnock, “Don’t bear false witness.” Herschel Walker, the pathological liar, told a pastor that he bore false witness.

Walker also claimed that he no longer needed help because of his mental illness.

Sen. Warnock was the winner of the debate

Raphael Warnock was the winner of the debate while Herschel Walker tried to get into the Trump school of debate. Only one contestant on stage knew what was happening in Georgia, while Walker stuck to Fox News talking points and clichés.

Warnock pointed out that Walker offered no solutions, and he didn’t. However, the catnip offered by Walker and the talking points will appeal to Republicans in Georgia.

Sen. Warnock leads by an average of 3.3 points, but Walker hasn’t had a lead in a poll since Labor Day.

NASA astronauts return to Earth

SpaceX returned its fourth operational crew mission from the International Space Station on Friday, with the quartet of astronauts landing in the company’s capsule off the coast of Florida.

The company’s Crew Dragon spacecraft Freedom undocked from the ISS around noon ET to begin the journey back to Earth, with the splashdown occurring around 5 p.m. ET.

“Welcome home – thank you for flying SpaceX,” the company’s mission control told the crew shortly after landing.

“Thank you for an incredible ride to orbit and an incredible ride home,” replied Crew 4 Commander Kjell Lindgren.
