Prosecutors are submitting a movement for Tory Lanez to be waived or elevated bail for violating Megan Thee Stallion’s safety order

Attorneys representing Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion have come to court on a protection warrant against Tory after he pleaded not guilty to shooting Meg.

Roommate, it looks like Tory Lanez is getting some heat after his Rolling Loud gig next to DaBaby. According to TMZ, a source has revealed that prosecutors recently filed a motion to detain the rapper for violating a court order to keep Megan Thee Stallion out of contempt.

Prosecutors claim Tory was within 100 meters of Megan at the festival, in violation of the protection order. Additionally, a source told TMZ that prosecutors believe both Tory and DaBaby tried to rush onto the stage during Megan’s performance.

In response, prosecutors are attempting to lift or raise Tory’s bail. If the bail is revoked, Tory could face jail time pending trial for the ongoing criminal case.

As previously reported, Tory is facing assault charges for allegedly shooting Megan in the foot last summer. A hearing on the disregard motion is scheduled for next Thursday.

Homeland Safety Warns That Trump/Republican Election Lies Promote Violence

The Department of Homeland Security issued a new bulletin that contained a warning that election fraud lies like those promoted by Trump and the GOP promote violence.

The Department of Homeland Security warned:

Foreign and domestic threat actors, to include foreign intelligence services, international terrorist groups and domestic violent extremists, continue to introduce, amplify, and disseminate narratives online that promote violence, and have called for violence against elected officials, political representatives, government facilities, law enforcement, religious communities or commercial facilities, and perceived ideologically-opposed individuals.

There are also continued, non-specific calls for violence on multiple online platforms associated with DVE ideologies or conspiracy theories on perceived election fraud and alleged reinstatement, and responses to anticipated restrictions relating to the increasing COVID case.

Trump And The GOP’s Election Fraud Lies Are An Incitement Of Domestic Terrorism

Election fraud lies are an accelerant to the nation’s domestic violent extremists. According to Homeland Security, when Trump whipped up the crowd to attack the Capitol on 1/6, he was promoting violence with his election lies.

The lies about the legitimacy of the election are more than a cover story for a massive voter suppression effort. They are also fuel for the domestic violent extremists who are some of Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s most vocal supporters.

The Homeland Security bulletin makes it clear. Those who push the stolen election lie and providing fuel for and incitement to domestic terrorists.

Everybody will “most likely” want a booster dose of Covid vaccines someday, says the epidemiologist

The epidemiologist Dr. Anne Rimoin told CNBC that she and Dr. Anthony Fauci, Senior Medical Advisor to the White House, agreed when he said that one day everyone will “likely” need a booster dose of Covid-19 vaccines.

“Well, I think Dr. Fauci is right,” said Rimoin, a professor of epidemiology at the UCLA School of Public Health.

“What will warrant a booster is when we see real, diminishing effectiveness of this vaccine in saving people from serious illness, hospitalization, or death. We’re not there yet, but if we are, then we go” a booster need.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday gave final approval to give Covid-19 booster vaccinations to recipients of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, hours after a key panel unanimously voted to allow third doses for immunocompromised Americans advocate. The CDC’s decision followed the approval of the booster vaccination for immunocompromised patients by the Food and Drug Administration late Thursday.

Rimoin told CNBC The News with Shepard Smith that both agencies have made a “really important” decision when it comes to the immunocompromised population.

“When they got the vaccine, they didn’t really develop an immune response enough to protect themselves against this virus,” said Rimoin. “Therefore, both the FDA and CDC are currently recommending an additional dose for these people, which studies have shown to improve the immune response in about 1/3 to 1/2 of the population.”

Immunocompromised patients make up approximately 2.7% of the US adult population and 44% of breakthrough hospital-treated infections that make someone infected even after being fully vaccinated.

China partially closes the port after a Covid case

China closed a key terminal in its port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, the world’s third largest port, after a worker was discovered to be infected with Covid – a move that is likely to put further pressure on already congested utility networks.

It was the second time this year that the country ceased operations at one of its major ports.

Analysts say China’s “zero tolerance” approach to Covid will tighten already stressed supply chains this year. Some warn that this may not be the last port closure as long as Beijing takes this stance.

Dawn Tiura, CEO of the Sourcing Industry Group – an association for the procurement and procurement industry, said China’s stance will lead to “serious” ramifications for the supply chain.

“China has zero tolerance for COVID. One person who tests positive is enough to close (the) port, ”she told CNBC in an email.

Ningbo-Zhoushan is the third largest container volume in the world. According to the World Shipping Council, 27.49 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) of container handling were handled in 2019. The container volume rose in 2020 by almost 5% to 28.72 million TEU.

As long as the authorities adhere to this “zero covid” stance, there is still a risk of sudden disruptions due to tests or bans …

Nick Marro

Economist Intelligence Unit

All incoming and outgoing services at the Meishan Terminal at the port of Zhoushan were suspended until further notice on Wednesday, according to Chinese state media. The terminal is the key to processing shipments to Europe and North America.

The supply chains have already been severely disrupted this year by crises such as the shortage of shipping containers and the incident in the Suez Canal. In June, Covid infections sparked disruption at shipping hubs in southern China, including major ports in Shenzhen and Guangzhou – the first time China has shut down ports due to Covid cases.

Effects of China’s “zero covid” stance

China’s zero tolerance for Covid suggests this latest port disruption may not be the last, said Nick Marro, head of global trade at the Economist Intelligence Unit.

“China’s ‘zero-covid’ approach means officials will prioritize containment of the pandemic above all else, especially given the highly contagious nature of the Delta tribe and the risks the current outbreak poses to future economic performance in the third quarter “He said in a note on Wednesday.

“As long as the authorities maintain this ‘zero covid’ stance, there is still a risk of sudden interference from tests or bans, which ties all hopes of normalcy closely to factors such as national vaccination deadlines,” he added.

China is experiencing a resurgence of Covid cases due to the highly transferable Delta variant. The daily cases exceeded the 140 mark on Monday – the highest number of daily infections since January, according to Reuters. The Chinese authorities have ordered mass tests in some areas and wide-ranging restrictions on movement in major cities such as Beijing.

The suspension of services at the Meishan Terminal comes as container shipping rates continue to rise this year. The container freight rates from China and East Asia to the west coast of North America have risen by over 270% to over 15,800 USD per TEU this year, according to the global container freight index from Freightos Baltic. Meanwhile, rates on the east coast have risen by over 220% to over USD 17,500 per TEU, according to the index.

Analysts warn of further delays and consumers will likely have to bear the cost as the holiday season approaches.

Tiura pointed out that the June Covid outbreak caused Shenzhen’s main Yantian terminal to cut 70% of its exports. The waiting time for processing shipments has been tripled from 3 days to 8 or 9 days.

Given that Ningbo-Zhoushan is the third largest container port in the world, this closure makes the already dire situation much worse.

Dawn Tiura

CEO, Sourcing Industry Group

“If we see something similar here, and the time it takes to move ships through port doubles or triples, we will have a significant and long-term impact on exports that will impact the holiday season and drive inflation,” she said.

“The shortage of containers was already affecting global supply chains. Given that Ningbo-Zhoushan is the third largest container port in the world, this closure will make an already dire situation much worse, ”said Tiura.

She said container capacity is likely to become more expensive and shippers are likely to pass the cost on to consumers, further fueling global inflation ahead of the all-important holiday season.

Mario Ciabarra, CEO of digital analytics company Quantum Metric, said retailers will face a lot of uncertainty before the holiday season and one of them will be inventory challenges.

“Inventories will be the primary concern of retailers as they face the decision to either have limited or no stocks of certain items, or instead face higher costs associated with air freight,” he told CNBC.

Marro from the EIU also pointed out disruptions that are exacerbated by the key demand before the Christmas season.

“Trade disruptions pose problems not only to shipping and consumers, but also to manufacturers who rely on critical import components,” he said.

Mississippi is on the lookout for medical doctors, nurses and ventilators whereas Covid sufferers pack beds within the intensive care unit

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves on Friday pleaded with residents to get vaccinated as the state scrambles to hire hundreds of temporary doctors, nurses and rescue workers.

He has also requested ventilators from the Strategic National Stockpile as the proliferation of the Delta variant fills hospitals across the state with mostly unvaccinated patients. The state even asked federal officials to send a U.S. Navy medical ship, but it was refused, he said.

“If you look at the whole country, this current wave is to some extent the unvaccinated pandemic,” Reeves said at a press conference, adding that the state was heading for a new peak in the Covid-19 pandemic. “We keep seeing more and more data, and the data is getting clearer. Those who received the vaccine are far less likely to get the virus.”

For the few landmark cases in fully vaccinated people the state has seen so far, “They are much less likely to spread the virus, and very unlikely to end up in the hospital or hospital when you have the vaccine on an intensive care bed, “he said.

Mississippi on Thursday extended an emergency ordinance that was due to expire this week after the state hit a record of more than 5,000 new Covid cases in one day, Republican Reeves said. The rise in cases is likely to be followed by an increase in hospital admissions and deaths.

According to Reeves, the state has requested 65 doctors, 920 nurses, 41 nursing assistants, 59 advanced practice nurses, 34 medical assistants, 239 ventilators, and 20 rescue workers. The additional help would open 771 beds for medical surgery and 235 beds in the intensive care unit, he said.

About 97% of people currently hospitalized in the state for Covid are unvaccinated, a trend that can be seen across the country. This week, Mississippi’s daily hospital admissions rate hit numbers higher than any other state during the pandemic.

In the past four days, “we have lost four healthy people in their twenties, two of whom were pregnant, no vaccinations,” said Dr. Mississippi State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs during the briefing. “In the last four days we’ve lost 10 people in their thirties and they are not chronically ill cancer patients.” None of the 30-year-olds who died were vaccinated.

In other age groups, the number of deaths in the unvaccinated continued to exceed the number of deaths in the vaccinated.

“I mean, there’s a pattern here … by and large, the vaccines have been incredibly protective and helpful, and especially for people under 50,” said Dobbs.

The state has one of the lowest vaccination rates per capita in the United States, but daily vaccination rates have tripled in the last month due to the spread of the dominant Delta variant, according to state health officials.

The governor said he had no intention of prescribing masks or vaccines to government officials “or anyone else” and stressed that he believed these things were personal choices.

“Based on the data I have, I have no intention of issuing a nationwide mask mandate,” Reeves said at a press conference on Friday.

Reeves said he also has no plans to put masking mandates on schools, saying school districts “have every right” to encourage the use of masks if they see it necessary.

More than 5,000 children are currently in quarantine after positive cases were found only in the first few weeks of schools reopening, some with no mask requirement.

In total, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health, Mississippi has recorded 381,147 Covid cases and 7,761 deaths since the pandemic began.

‘Discipline of Goals’ MLB baseball sport attracts 5.9 million viewers for Fox

Major League Baseball’s Field of Dreams game was a dream come true for Fox Sports.

The network announced the MLB film competition between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox, which drew an average of 5.9 million viewers via TV and streaming and was the network’s most-watched regular season MLB game since The Yankees-Boston Red Sox competition on October 1 also drew around 5.9 million viewers.

The game was played in Dyersville, Iowa, in a ballpark next to a cornfield, which depicts the scene from the 1989 Universal Pictures film starring Kevin Costner. Costner cinematically stepped in from the cornfield, followed by Yankees and White Sox players wearing throwback uniforms.

The White Sox beat the Yankees 9-8 in a Hollywood-like ending. Thursday’s game ended with a home run in the ninth inning from White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson. That two-run score came after Yankees thugs Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton posted their two-run homers in the top of the ninth after trailing 7-4. Stanton’s hit gave the Yankees an 8-7 lead until Anderson saved the White Sox’s dream from turning into a nightmare.

Fox Sports said the game peaked between 8:45 PM and 9:00 PM Eastern Time, with approximately 6 million viewers, and among the top markets to watch the game outside of Chicago and New York were St. Louis, Kansas City, and Hartford, Conn.

On the promotional side, a Fox Sports manager estimated the network would generate record sales from every other regular season MLB game broadcast on the network, according to the Sports Business Journal. However, the executive did not name a number.

Kevin Krim, founder and CEO of advertising metrics data company EDO, said brands generated NFL-like impressions around search. Using analytics that track brand and product searches and sales when ads are shown, EDO helps businesses and networks determine the value of an ad at sporting events.

The company has clients such as Fox Sports, ESPN and CNBC’s parent company NBCUniversal.

Krim said one of the top ads was Hyundai’s 30-second ad, which drew 35,000 incremental searches in the minutes after the Field of Dreams game aired. “That would be a really good number for a prime-time NFL game,” Krim told CNBC, adding that NFL games on Thursday night draw an average of 43,000 searches related to automobile advertising.

Crimea said a segment of marketers looking to be “innovative” are drawn to bespoke sporting events like the MLB’s Field of Dreams game and the National Hockey League’s Winter Classic. “And it certainly helps the networks sell something new,” he added. “It takes a slow time of the year and it gives you something to sell.”

It also helped that two competitive teams were playing. The Yankees are still in playoff competition, just seven games away from first place, and the White Sox have a comfortable 11.5 game lead over AL Central. Plus, MLB now has little competition from other sports – it just had to compete with the NBA Summer League games and NFL preseason competitions.

The Field of Dreams game was originally supposed to host a White Sox Cardinals competition during the 2020 season but has been postponed due to the pandemic.

“It’s the kind of presentation MLB should be doing all the time,” said former Oakland Athletics Executive Vice President Andy Dolich. “It shows baseball’s ability to tell stories. Anytime you can present an event and get people’s attention at all levels what this did, try to scale it to a year, but not overdo it. “

Official attendance was 7,832, with some premium tickets selling for $ 10,000. Given the hype and commitment surrounding this year’s competition, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said another Field of Dreams game is planned for the 2022 season – should MLB avoid a work stoppage.

“I think the response to this event was so positive that we will be back,” Manfred said on MLB.com. “I think it’s pretty clear we’ll be back next year, and after that we have to talk about it. But it was just so successful that it’s hard not to take the opportunity to do it again.”

Reddit, recent from a $ 10 billion valuation, is planning a powerful worldwide push, says CEO

Reddit will use its new funding to expand its international presence and explore more content types, co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman told CNBC on Friday.

“First commandment is to make Reddit great. Make Reddit faster and more relevant, make it work for more people, ”said Huffman of the company’s plans at TechCheck. “And then we look to the future, so internationalization is a big effort on our part. Video will be another major effort on our part, so the same strategy.

Reddit announced Thursday that it will raise up to $ 700 million in a Series F funding round led by Fidelity Management. The company said it had raised $ 410 million from Fidelity in its second round of funding since the beginning of the year, when small traders gathered on its platform in their battle against Wall Street institutions.

In February, shortly after the Reddit-fueled GameStop saga, the social media site carried out a capital increase that doubled its valuation to $ 6 billion. Reddit also generated $ 100 million in ad revenue for the first time in the second quarter of 2021, up 192% over the same period last year.

Founded in 2005, Reddit had 52 million daily active users and 100,000 subreddit communities as of January, according to Reuters. The website’s infamous WallStreetBets forum now has more than 10.7 million subscribers.

“If we go back in time, Reddit was just links 15 years ago, and then we added text and images, as well as third-party videos and our own video,” Huffman said. “Every time we add a new type of content, our users are creative in new ways, and usually in ways we can’t predict. … We look forward to another big development from Reddit here. I think there is a version of Reddit that is even better viewed than read. Text doesn’t go anywhere either, of course. “

Reddit is still lagging behind other major social media sites in its growth. The most recent valuation appears alongside Twitter’s $ 51.7 billion valuation and 206 million monetizable daily active users in the second quarter and Facebook’s $ 1 trillion valuation at the close of Friday and 1.9 billion daily active users low in June. Both tech giants have been around for about as long as Reddit.

Reddit’s unique ability to host users pioneering a new type of content like the meme or increasing the popularity of certain types of content sets the company apart, Huffman said.

“I think that’s what makes Reddit really interesting because our users are doing things that we or no one else would ever predict, and I think that’s the fun of it,” he said.

Reddit co-founder and former chairman Alexis Ohanian also told CNBC on Friday that the company’s online community was one of its greatest strengths. “I think any company now really understands the importance of actually having a motivated audience that isn’t just used or broken down for their information, but actually contributes to something much bigger than they are,” he said.

Ohanian, who is now a venture capitalist, said Reddit could be part of technology’s role in building trust with communities to fight misinformation.

“Traditional institutions have lost a lot of trust in people’s eyes as well as simply surpassed them in terms of the quantity and sometimes even the quality of the content,” Ohanian said in the “Squawk Box”.

The site’s meme stock trading activity has previously led to conflict with the Wall Street establishment and even led the US Securities and Exchange Commission to monitor more closely the volatility of the trading prices of some stocks.

Huffman said that Reddit had talks with the SEC and that the company has long been monitoring tampering tactics, whether it be in the form of “users, a clever marketing team, or something larger and more nefarious.” He said that people who try to manipulate Reddit tend to stand out from the site’s regular user community.

“Our responsibility at Reddit is that our users are able to create a community, find belonging, and gather around their interests and passions,” said Huffman. “Whether that’s stock trading and Wall Street betting or longer term trading and … investing, both are celebrated and both are welcomed on Reddit.”

Jamie Spears Agrees To Step Down As Britney Spears’ Conservator (Replace)

It has been a long battle between Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears when it comes to her trying to have him removed as her sole conservator, and it looks like she is finally getting her wish.

According to TMZ, in documents filed by Jamie’s attorney he stated, “Even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests. So, even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”

The site continues to note that despite everything that has taken place, Jamie acknowledged that he is still Britney’s father and that “he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests.”

In the documents, it states that he also comes for his ex Lynne Spears and says that she had little involvement in Britney’s life for the past 13 years, and credits himself for being there for Britney when she was “in crisis, desperately in need of help.”

As we previously reported, last month the judge granted Britney the ability to hire her own attorney in the case, and she hired Mathew Rosengart.

Rosengart spoke to TMZ about Jamie’s decision to step down and said, “We are pleased but not necessarily surprised that Mr. Spears and his lawyer finally recognize that he must be removed. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others. We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future. In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr. Spears should step aside immediately.”

The company provides last OK to booster Covid vaccine vaccines at weak Individuals

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday gave final approval to give Covid-19 booster vaccinations to recipients of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, hours after a key panel unanimously voted to allow third doses for immunocompromised Americans advocate.

“At a time when the Delta variant is on the rise, an extra dose of vaccine for some people with compromised immune systems could help prevent serious and potentially life-threatening COVID-19 cases in this population,” said CDC Director Dr . Rochelle Walensky in a statement.

The CDC’s decision and recommendation by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices followed Thursday’s approval of the booster vaccination for immunocompromised patients by the Food and Drug Administration. With the OK from both authorities, the booster doses could be given immediately.

“For the past almost a year and a half, I have cared for many patients with life-threatening and fatal diseases, and even post-vaccination,” who are immunocompromised, Dr. Camille Nelson Kotton, a transplant and infectious disease specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, told the panel to strongly support boosters for those with weak immune systems. “They just suffer from a lack of good vaccination protection, we know that the vaccine is less effective in this population.”

The FDA late Thursday approved a third dose of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for “solid organ transplant recipients or those diagnosed with conditions believed to have equivalent levels of immunodeficiency.” Authorities have not released a booster vaccination to anyone else fully vaccinated or to recipients of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, which is manufactured in the Janssen vaccines division.

“There is currently no data to support the use of an additional dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine following a Janssen Covid-19 primary vaccine in immunocompromised people. The FDA and CDC are actively working to provide guidance on this matter,” said Dr. Neela. from CDC Goswami wrote to ACIP in her presentation.

The CDC recommended a third dose for at-risk Americans 28 days or more after completing the first two rounds of shooting. Booster doses are also recommended for cancer patients and HIV patients after data showed that immune responses after the first two doses did not provide adequate protection against Covid-19 and its variants in these patients.

The additional recordings were recommended for Pfizer recipients aged 12 and over and for Moderna recipients aged 18 and over. The panel said it will revisit the recordings for younger Moderna recipients after the FDA clears the recordings for children.

Immunocompromised patients make up approximately 2.7% of the US adult population and 44% of breakthrough hospital-treated infections that make someone infected even after being fully vaccinated.

Studies suggest that a third dose of the vaccine might help people whose immune systems do not respond as well to a first or second dose. Five small studies cited by the CDC showed that 11% to 80% of people with compromised immune systems had no detectable antibodies to Covid after two shots.

Among immunocompromised patients who had no detectable antibody response, 33 to 50% developed an antibody response after receiving an additional dose, according to the CDC.

Patients at risk are also more likely to experience persistent Covid infections, the panel said. The data also suggests that they are likely to shed more viruses and potentially infect more people than those who are not immunocompromised.

Early data from small studies on the effects of booster doses in immunocompromised patients showed no serious side effects from a third vaccination with an mRNA vaccine and symptoms beyond those identified after the first two-dose dose.

Several countries, including Israel, the Dominican Republic, France, the UK and Germany, have either already started or are considering giving booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

Immunocompromised patients receiving a third dose should continue to wear a mask and social distancing, the panel said.

Survey data from hesitant immunocompromised patients show that, according to a panel presentation by Dr. Kathleen Dooling of the CDC still has many worried about the side effects of the vaccines and the speed at which the vaccines have been developed, as well as the general suspicion about the vaccines.

Around 10% of immunocompromised patients say they will “definitely not” receive a vaccine, another 9% say they are “unsure” or “probably not” and 44% say they will “definitely” get a vaccine. Those who hesitate are usually younger, belong to an ethnic or racial minority, or are female.
