Trump, XI Name TikTok Deal in progress

President Donald Trump and the Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday began to call an excited call to complete a deal so that Tiktok in the USA becomes dark

The call began at 8 a.m. ET, said an official of the White House CNBC.

Washington and Beijing agreed on a “Framework” deal for the social media platform on Monday, finance Minister Scott Bessent said after the talks between the two economic super powers in Madrid.

But Trump, a fan of Tikkok who attributed it to help him win the presidential elections in 2024, has repeatedly extended the deadline. On Tuesday, he signed an executive regulation in which it was delayed until December 16.

During a state visit to Great Britain on Thursday, Trump said that he was trying to keep Tikkok alive in the United States

“We are talking to President XI on Friday to see if we can complete anything on Tikkok because there is an enormous value and I hate giving away value, but I like Tiktok,” said Trump at Checkers, the weekly third of the British Prime Minister in Aylesbury, England.

The legislator of both parties had supported the TikK legislation, which aimed to protect the Americans from social media apps that were used for surveillance or manipulation purposes by foreign opponents.

Former President Joe Biden signed the legislative template in April 2024, whereby Bytedance initially had a deadline on January 19 to sell himself or to make a ban on a US ban.

But Trump extended this deadline on his first day of the office and he has done this three times since then.
