Russell Wilson offered a warm message of optimism and reflection after a crucial moment in his professional life.
The NFL quarterback posted a video on Instagram Tuesday, December 29th, showing him wearing one Kobe Bryant Jersey and a pair of “Grinch” style Nikes popularized by the NBA superstar. The next month is a year since Kobe and his 13 year old daughter Gianna Bryant died in a tragic helicopter crash.
“Dear Kobe & GiGi … Thank you for being an inspiration. #Mamba # 24 # 8 # 2,” Russell said of the somber tribute that began with going into the stadium with orchestral music. The footage was shot in Lumen Field, home of Russell’s Seattle Seahawks. The news came two days after his team captured a playoff spot by winning the NFC West title with a hard-fought win over the Washington Football team.
“Your family means a lot to the family,” said Russell of the late athlete, who often referred to himself as the Black Mamba. “We love you all. For this game we had to bring the mamba mentality with us.”
