President Joe Biden will meet at the White House on Wednesday with Kenneth Frazier, Chairman and CEO of Merck, and Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson.
On Wednesday, the Biden government announced that it plans to purchase an additional 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from J&J. The deal would double the country’s supply of the J&J vaccine as the company has already signed a deal with the government to provide 100 million doses by the end of June.
Last week, Biden announced that Merck would help manufacture J & J’s Covid vaccine. As part of the agreement, Merck will set up two facilities in the United States to manufacture the cans. One will make the vaccine and the other will provide “fill-finish” services when the vaccine is put into vials.
