Bryson DeChambeau is on the rise, however Rory McIlroy stays the anticipated cash king of golf

Rory McIlroy remains the predicted money king of golf, and Bryson DeChambeau is on the rise, according to a new study of the future earnings of PGA Tour players under the age of 50.

New York-based leading financial advisory firm, Duff and Phelps, estimates that McIlroy, 32, will earn $ 401 million in his career by the age of 50. McIlroy tops a talented list of golfers on the Future Career Value (FCV) 2021 list. Duff and Phelps estimate that the top 10 golfers, including DeChambeau, will collectively make $ 2.15 billion by the time players are 50. That’s $ 1.89 billion from the list’s opening year during the pandemic.

In an interview with CNBC on Thursday, Mark Mondello, the company’s managing director of the company’s ratings service, said player performance on the golf course and estimated confirmation scores are critical metrics in determining the list.

“It’s trend-setting,” said Mondello. “It relied on detailed statistical analysis and mathematical modeling to arrive at these results,” which also influenced the popularity of the player’s brand off the pitch.

Duff and Phelps estimate that McIlroy has approximately $ 300 million in sponsorship revenue, including deals with Nike, Electronic Arts, and sporting goods manufacturer TaylorMade.

US golfer Justin Thomas, the 2021 PGA Players Championship winner, ranks second on the list with an estimated career profit of $ 299 million. And DeChambeau, perhaps the most intriguing player on the list, moved up five spots to third due to his increasing popularity, with a forecast of $ 225 million in career earnings.

Bryson is building its brand

Mondello, who heads Duff and Phelps’ global sports and entertainment division, said the company employs many golf fans. They used their review resources to create the leaderboards that could help companies identify prospective golfers to sponsor. Mondello added the company used “basic time value of money and risk adjustment factors” to forecast the earnings of 60 male golfers under the age of 50.

“We agreed on a rate of 10%, but there are many factors to keep in mind as there is a risk that someone could achieve these projected earnings over time,” Mondello said. “That’s what we do when we value a company or asset – we forecast future cash flows and then discount them to their present value.”

Xander Schauffele and Dustin Johnson are the other two golfers expected to top $ 200 million. They are fourth and fifth on the 2021 list. Collin Morikawa ($ 197 million), Jon Rahm ($ 169 million), Viktor Hovland ($ 163 million) round out the six to eight places.

However, DeChambeau is currently one of the most talked about players on the PGA Tour. DeChambeau, 27, weighs 6 feet-1,235 pounds according to his PGA Tour profile and looks more like a professional soccer player or wrestling figure than a golfer.

DeChambeau has unique support with a top sports betting company DraftKings. And his notoriety will only grow as he attends Turner Sports’ upcoming The Match golf event with National Football League star quarterbacks Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and PGA Tour icon Phil Mickelson.

DeChambeau turned pro in 2016 and has eight career PGA Tour wins including the US Open last September. He has made $ 24 million in his career and will attempt a rerun of the US Open this month at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California. With 49 events held in 2021, DeChambeau is currently fifth in the world according to the Official World Golf Ranking.

And DeChambeau is also embroiled in a golfer feud with PGA Tour player Brooks Koepka, who ranks 10th on the list with $ 144 million. The tension seemed to mount at the PGA Championship last month during a media interview.

DeChambeau, however, downplayed any problems with Koepka but said it was “good for the game”. Still, the feud helps DeChambeau with another metric – PGA Tour’s newly installed Player Impact Program. It is an incentive plan that distributes $ 40 million among high-profile golfers whose popularity helps build the PGA Tour brand and increase attendance at events.

“He has a tremendous future,” Mondello said of DeChambeau.

What about Tiger Woods?

Again, the list only includes golfers under the age of 50, so Mickelson is not counted. The trial begins with the recognition of Mickelson, who won the PGA Championship in May 2021, making him the oldest player to win a major PGA Tour major.

When asked if Mickelson was younger – around 49 – what his rank might be, Mondello predicted he would be among the best, adding, “He (Mickelson) is still a relevant golfer on the course, and he just has a lot of support. “

The other relevant golfer – Tiger Woods – took ninth place in this year’s FCV ranking. Woods, 45, is expected to earn $ 150 million over the next five years until he joins Mickelson and is no longer accepted. Until then, Mondello said Woods’ income from endorsements should help keep his ranking up.

Woods is currently rehabilitating from a serious car accident in February but has returned to the field of video game sponsorship. He agreed to a license agreement with Take-Two Interactive to use his name, image, and likeness and be featured on the company’s new golf game, PGA Tour 2K. It’s the first time since 2013 that Woods has appeared in a video game.

“He generates so much value,” Mondello said of Woods. “Although in our study he will only raise $ 150 million over the next five years, he is still in our top 10.”

A key body of the Food and Drug Administration is holding a meeting Thursday to discuss the use of Covid-19 vaccines in children 6 months and older.

The FDA’s Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Related Biological Products will meet on the same day that Moderna said it had asked the U.S. agency to expand emergency use of its Covid-19 vaccine in adolescents ages 12-17. The vaccine was approved for adults in December.

Pfizer and German partner BioNTech received permission to use their vaccine for 12 to 15 year olds last month.

US regulators are expected to approve Moderna’s application for use on teenagers. The approval process could take about a month, just in time for the fall classes. Pfizer and BioNTech, for example, filed for expanded use of their syringe in teenagers on April 9, and received FDA approval on May 10.

Ben Grounds: Format favorisiert Azzurri

Charlotte Marsh: Frankreichs Tiefe einfach unglaublich

Eating places depend on loyalty packages to carry onto digital earnings

Forget the battle for supremacy in the chicken sandwich. The loyalty program wars are coming.

According to market researcher NPD Group, digital orders in restaurants rose 124% in the year ended March. And the skyrocketing popularity of online ordering during the coronavirus pandemic is motivating large fast food chains to use rewards programs to attract new customers to mobile apps. Most restaurant chains now automatically sign up for loyalty programs as soon as guests order via a mobile app.

Starbucks, Panera Bread and Domino’s Pizza paved the way, while Chipotle Mexican Grill launched its own version in 2019. But the last year has brought even more players to the arena. Wendy’s, Taco Bell from Yum Brands and Burger King from Restaurant Brands International are among the new additions, and McDonald’s and Jack in the Box are preparing to launch loyalty programs later this year.

“With Covid-19 and consumer behavior change, we’ve really seen a huge upward trend, from the biggest brands that have somehow held out, I would say they are now starting programs to keep and keep consumers coming back . ” Loyalty, “said Elle Kross, director of Client Strategy for Travel, Hospitality and Food Services at Movable Ink, a digital marketing company.

According to Aaron Allen, founder of restaurant consulting firm Aaron Allen & Associates, loyalty programs contribute to more frequent visits and higher average controls.

For example, Brian Niccol, CEO of Chipotle, told analysts in April that the company’s loyalty program has driven additional deals in its “light, medium and heavy consumer segments.” Before the pandemic, the chain’s program had 8.5 million members. Today it has more than 21 million members.

Digital orders made up the majority of the company’s quarterly sales for the first time in the first three months of this year. Chipotle has consistently pushed consumers into its loyalty program by releasing them early on with new menu items and by keeping some items like the quesadilla only available digitally.

However, these aren’t the only factors driving the boom in restaurant loyalty programs. Companies also want to learn more about customers – collect and analyze data based on their order preferences and personal information. This consumer data can be used to better target customers, both with marketing offers and for future opportunities such as new menu items.

“We’re a long way from the subway punch card,” said Allen.

Zoom In Icon Arrows pointing outwards

At the moment, customers don’t mind giving up this data about themselves in exchange for the occasional free drink or discount. Goldman Sachs asked 2,000 consumers what they thought about technical features in the hospitality industry. Loyalty programs are becoming increasingly important for these consumers, according to the survey.

While restaurant loyalty programs differ in design and rewards, unlike airline rewards programs, most programs do not use separate tiers based on the number of points earned. Starbucks, for example, lowered its levels in 2019 to encourage new members to join its loyalty program.

In the three quarters following the Starbucks change, 3.1 million loyalty members were added, up 15% over the same point in 2019. And during that period, the company saw strong quarterly sales growth in the same store in the US, a drag on business with the exception of the start of the pandemic.

During the crisis, the coffee giant changed its loyalty program again and expanded the number of payment options to include cash and PayPal. In Starbucks’ second fiscal quarter of this year, 52% of sales in company-owned cafes in the US came from Starbucks Rewards members. Mobile orders accounted for 26% of corporate transactions in the US, up from 18% last year.

That’s the kind of digital growth and loyalty that McDonald’s seeks to emulate with its upcoming rewards program. The chain’s U.S. president Joe Erlinger told analysts in April that the company had nearly $ 1.5 billion in digital revenue in the first quarter, including orders through its digital kiosks, mobile apps, and delivery platforms. But that number could be even higher. As of February, it will test the program at 900 of its 14,000 US locations, with restaurants in Arizona, Nevada, and New England participating.

Restaurants also rely on loyalty programs to add more personal touch to customer interactions, even when zooming into the drive-through lane. The latest restaurant design from Panera Bread automatically recognizes loyal members whether they walk through the driveway or enter the location.

“Once you are identified, the vision is for us to interact and recognize and treat you as a person with preferences,” said Eduardo Luz, Panera’s Chief Brand and Concept Officer, in an interview in May. “That’s what you expect when you go to a neighborhood café.”

Luz said the company is considering several options to make this a reality, including code scanning or microfencing technology. The first location in the new restaurant design is scheduled to open in Ballwin, Missouri, in November.

One of the big questions for restaurants with existing loyalty programs is how to keep loyalty members even when competitors have competing plans in motion. Fast food chains may need to increase the number or quality of member rewards and bet that the blessings of consumer data will make up for those losses.

“The tipping point or turning point is that we don’t want to download an app for every place we go,” Allen said. “So we think this is another driver that divides the haves and the haves.”

Big restaurant chains like McDonald’s and Chipotle have the capital to invest in technology such as improving mobile apps and building smooth rewards programs. But smaller chains and independent restaurants won’t be able to keep up. Instead, third-party companies could create loyalty programs for smaller players, but the companies that use these plans don’t get the same customer data as a chain that has created their own rewards program.

Competition is likely even among the big chains. Everyone predicts that the restaurant giants will become more savvy, aggressive, and adopt strategies similar to those used in the hospitality industry. Hilton Honors, for example, compares the award status for customers of competing hoteliers.

Kross referred to Dunkin’s loyal member emails created over the past year, similar to those from Peloton and Spotify, as an example of a fast food chain already getting creative. These type of summaries summarize the members ‘year and how many free drinks they made at Dunkin’ or how many hours they spent training with Peloton.

“I think that’s really great because no two emails will be the same, because no two consumers will be the same,” she said.

House Depot contracted its personal container ship to keep away from delivery delays

A Home Depot location in Encinitas, California.

Mike Blake | Reuters

Home Depot is one of the largest importers in the country. Yet with congested ports, container shortages and Covid-19 outbreaks slowing shipments, the company made a decision: It was time to get its own boat.

“We have a ship that’s solely going to be ours and it’s just going to go back and forth with 100% dedicated to Home Depot,” Chief Operating Officer Ted Decker said in an interview. It marks the first time that the company has taken such a step.

Decker said the contracted ship, which will begin running next month, is just one example of the unusual measures that the company is taking as it copes with challenges that have ricocheted across the global supply chain.

On rare occasions, Home Depot has also flown in power tools, faucets, electrical components, fasteners and other “smaller, higher value items” by air freight, he said. In other cases, it has opted to buy items on the spot market — even though it can cost as much as four times more than contracted rates.

Other retailers have also had to go to great lengths to try to stock stores and distribution centers and keep up with consumer demand as the economy recovers from the pandemic. For shoppers, retailers’ logistical woes are playing out in the form of out-of-stocks, long delays before a purchase’s arrival and higher prices.

The global shipping snafus come during an important time for the industry, said Jonathan Gold, vice president of supply chain and customs policy for the National Retail Federation, a trade group. Retailers are heading into peak season for shipping holiday merchandise, which usually begins in August.

“Right now, they are all trying to figure out ‘How do we mitigate that risk to make sure that we’ve got the product here in time for when those holiday season sales start?'” he said. “That could mean moving up timing for when you bring your product in, which could further lead to additional congestion and delays.”

A whack-a-mole of issues

More than a year into the pandemic, Gold said, retailers continue to play whack-a-mole with a revolving set of problems. He said companies have faced those issues, regardless of size and the type of merchandise they sell.

“We’re seeing [issues with] everything from apparel to footwear into furniture, handbags, toys, consumer goods, electronics,” he said.

Soaring demand has contributed to the problem, Gold said, as people have spent money on goods rather than services like dining out and traveling while stuck at home for months.

Home Depot was caught by surprise, Decker said, when consumers’ extreme appetite for home improvement took off during the pandemic. The company has shown big sales growth quarter after quarter. That continued in the fiscal first quarter, with the company’s same-store sales soaring 31% year-over-year.

A Covid-19 outbreak in southern China is a new concern. As Chinese authorities try to stop the spread, they have restricted the number of vessels that can access ports in the major exporting hub. That’s forcing some ships to skip over the ports or anchor offshore as the boats wait to dock. Large shipping companies, such as Maersk, have warned clients about delays. It has caused the biggest backlog since at least 2019, according to a Reuters report.

Costs have risen due to the issues, too. Nathan Resnick, CEO of Sourcify, a company that connects companies to manufacturers, said freight rates have “spiked significantly.” In an interview with CNBC’s “The Exchange” earlier this week, he said the cost of a 40-foot container has gone up over 150% on the West Coast and risen even more on the East Coast.

He estimated that companies may have to raise prices between 5% and 20% to offset that increase. “A lot of that cost may be passed down to consumers where there may be higher prices this holiday season,” he said.

‘Up to the C-suite’

Gold said since the pandemic, coming up with quicker and more efficient ways to move goods across the world has become an urgent priority.

“This really has risen up to the C-suite level, in terms of how are folks mitigating the ongoing challenges that they’re facing right now,” he said.

Among the strategies executives are exploring are diversifying supply chains by importing materials and merchandise from other countries outside of Asia or closer to the U.S., adding air freight to the mix and placing orders even earlier, according to Gold.

For companies like Home Depot, Decker said size has been a competitive advantage. It is the third largest U.S. importer by volume of ocean containers, according to the most recent annual ranking by the Journal of Commerce, a magazine and website that covers global trade. Walmart and Target are the top two U.S. importers and Home Depot rival, Lowe’s, is fourth largest and followed by Ashley Furniture.

“We have a solid, contracted amount of capacity that our suppliers have largely honored,” he said. “[It’s] long-term thinking, ‘Covid doesn’t last forever so keep your best customers happy.’ “

Migos exhibit their freestyle abilities whereas selling their new album “Tradition III”

Roommate, after what feels like an eternity, Migos have finally given the fans what they have been waiting for by releasing their eagerly awaited new album “Culture III” – and to get the fans excited about the new project, they decided to show how good they are can attack the microphone. During a recent press appearance, Migos members Quavo, Offset and Takeoff swapped bars on the microphone in a freestyle session with all social media talking.

Migos recently stopped by ‘LA Leakers’ to promote their just-released new album ‘Culture III’ and it was everything fans hoped for and even more so when the platinum trio spat successive freestyle bars that immediately started trending on Twitter. In the years since their last album, the personal lives of Quavo, Offset and Takeoff, who together make up Migos, have caught the majority of the headlines – but now they’re officially back in their music production.

Maybe it’s because fans haven’t seen them rhyme in a while or maybe it’s the hype about the new album, for whatever reason, Migos are lighting social media with freestyle flows, from whom many did not know they had.

Meanwhile, initial numbers suggest that “Culture III” is well on its way to achieving pretty impressive numbers considering the group has been gone for so long. According to the initial sales figures, Migos is expected to sell between 125,000 and 135,000 copies in the first week – with 5,000 to 8,000 coming from pure album sales.

As Covid vaccination rates flatline or drop across the country, public and private concerns are increasingly turning to incentives — from free doughnuts to million-dollar payouts, and even marijuana cigarettes or a spin around a NASCAR track — in an effort to convince Americans to get immunized.

On Monday, Washington state’s alcohol and cannabis board launched its “Joints for Jabs” program authorizing marijuana dispensaries to give a free joint to any resident who gets vaccinated through July 12. A similar effort has reportedly started in Arizona.

Other states, like New Jersey and Connecticut, are more old school, offering a free beer or non-alcoholic beverage to encourage more people to get vaccinated against Covid. And last month, the Alabama Department of Public Health and other agencies partnered with the state’s Talladega Superspeedway to offer two free laps on the famed racetrack to those over age 16 who get a shot.

Ohio and Maryland, on the other hand, turned to cold, hard cash.

In May, Maryland held the first of its $40,000 lottery drawings for people who have been vaccinated. Forty consecutive days of drawings for a $40,000 prize end on July 4 with a final drawing for a $400,000 payout.

Ohio is also holding a series of drawings for cash prizes, although its “Vax-a-Million” contest ups the ante significantly.

On the private front, Krispy Kreme in March became one of the first businesses to roll out a nationwide Covid vaccine incentive, offering a free glazed doughnut to any adult with a vaccination card. Earlier this month, the company said it had already given away more than 1.5 million doughnuts. (The offer still stands through the remainder of the year.)

“We were the first national brand to launch a campaign to show support for Americans choosing to get vaccinated, and we were hopeful that others would join us,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer at Krispy Kreme.

“So, it’s very gratifying to see so many companies, organizations, communities and even state governments encouraging and incentivizing people to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated.”

The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that about half of the U.S. population has had at least one shot — and yet, the pace of Covid vaccinations has slowed nationwide.

Incentives may become increasingly important to move the needle from here, according to Bob Bollinger, a professor of infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and inventor of the emocha Health app.

“It really depends on what the barriers are that people have about getting vaccinated,” Bollinger said. The higher those barriers are, the harder they are to overcome, he added.

A handful of states have reported that vaccine incentive programs have increased local vaccination numbers in some demographics after recent drops.

For its part, Ohio said its vaccination rates doubled in some counties after the state vaccine lottery was announced.

Recent data shows that the gambit might be more effective among certain demographics, but with little downside overall, according to a report by Morning Consult.

The poll of 2,200 adults, including nearly 1,600 people who are unvaccinated, found that men are more inclined than women to say these offers would make them sign up to receive a shot. Democrats, more than Republicans, also said they’d be more likely to get vaccinated if they could get free goods or services and, when broken down by generation, millennials were the most likely to say certain freebies would motivate them to get vaccinated.

An earlier survey by Blackhawk Network found that more than two-thirds of adults said they would accept a monetary incentive ranging from as little as $10 to as much as $1,000. One-third said they would get vaccinated for $100 or less. Blackhawk Network polled more than 2,000 adults in January.

A federal grand jury has charged fugitive Malaysian financier Jho Low and Fugees rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel with new criminal charges, accusing them of running a back-channel campaign to get the Trump administration to launch one Cease investigation against Low and the 1MDB investment company, and return a Chinese dissident to China.

The new charges against Low, 39, and 48-year-old Michel come six months after former President Donald Trump pardoned former top republican donor Elliot Broidy in connection with his October admission of guilt for his role in illegal lobbying on Low’s behalf .

CNBC reached out to Broidy’s attorney to ask if Broidy testified before the grand jury that indicted Low and Michel.

Because of his pardon, Broidy would not be able to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination if he were testified before a grand jury investigating his activities with Low and Michel.

Broidy, a Los Angeles businessman, received $ 9 million for efforts on their behalf, with “expecting tens of millions more in success fees,” federal authorities said.

Two years ago, Low and Michel were charged in federal court in Washington, DC, with allegedly injecting millions of dollars of Low’s money to support then-President Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign.

The indictment issued Thursday by a Washington grand jury accused Low and Michel of conspiring with Broidy, a woman named Nickie Lum Davis, and others “to conduct secret lobbying campaigns on the orders of Low and the People’s Republic’s Vice Secretary of Public Security “. from China, “said the Justice Department.

The goals of these campaigns were “to end both the investigation into the 1MDB embezzlement and the recovery process in which Low and others were involved, and to send a Chinese dissident back to China.”

This dissident is said to be billionaire Guo Wengui, also known as Miles Kwok and Miles Guo.

The new indictment also accuses Michel and Low of conspiring to launder money in connection with the foreign influence campaigns, the Justice Department said. Michel is also charged with manipulating witnesses and conspiring to give false testimony to banks.

Davis pleaded guilty in August of violating foreign lobbying law in a Justice Department investigation into 1MDB.

Also in August, Trump’s former senior advisor, Steve Bannon, was arrested on Guo’s yacht off the Connecticut coast on charges of having cheated thousands of donors through a crowdfunding campaign to privately build part of a wall along the United States. Border with mexico.

Trump pardoned Bannon on his last night in office in January, while pardoning Broidy.

Investment bank Goldman Sachs reached a postponed prosecution agreement with the Department of Justice last year in connection with the conspiracy in which the bank and its Malaysian entity violated U.S. bribery laws by paying Malaysian and Abu Dhabi officials, to get business from 1MDB.

Goldman, which received approximately $ 600 million in fees for bond transactions that financed the bank, agreed to pay more than $ 2.9 billion under this deferred law enforcement arrangement.

Interest in travel is picking up as the pandemic winds down, and cooped-up Americans are itching to hit the road again, two recent surveys have found.

Travelers are thinking about booking trips to warm and sunny domestic climes — be they Sun Belt cities or beaches and national parks — and are also more open to planning trips abroad.

Separate surveys from websites Booking.com and Skyscanner, which partnered with customer engagement platform Braze and app intelligence provider Apptopia, found that Las Vegas, Miami and Orlando, Florida, are among the top destinations searched online by potential U.S. vacationers.

Mark Crossey, U.S. travel expert at Skyscanner, said Americans are looking for short, domestic trips — 87% of trips booked at the site are for a week or less — and are favoring spots with fewer pandemic-related restrictions.

“Both Florida and Nevada no longer have travel restrictions for visitors and California anticipates its restrictions will soon lift, too,” he said. “All of these destinations enjoy warm summer weather and have plenty of activities for people to enjoy after a quiet year.”

Crossey said he expects to see Americans continue to travel in their own backyard throughout 2021, and anticipates “a resurgence in foreign trips as soon as international travel restrictions relax and popular European destinations reopen.”

The top five destinations from Skyscanner, Braze and Apptopia are, in fact, all cities: Las Vegas, Orlando, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. All but L.A. and the Big Apple, meanwhile, made Booking.com’s own list of top 10 destination searches for summer travel, which also featured seaside spots such as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Ocean City, Maryland. The site’s survey found 61% of people plan to hit the sand at some point this summer.

  • Las Vegas, Nevada

  • Destin, Florida
  • Panama City Beach, Florida
  • Ocean City, Maryland

“New Booking.com research shows that Americans are looking to get away this summer, and more specifically, a majority (62%) say they are optimistic they’ll get to the beach when it is safe again to do so,” said Leslie Cafferty, senior vice president and head of global communications at Booking Holdings.

“With nearly 70% of Americans looking to travel closer to home, it’s no surprise that U.S. destinations like Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Miami, Ocean City and Destin were among some of the top searched vacations on Booking.com in May for check-in dates within 90 days.”

Like Skyscanner, Booking.com also found that Americans now favor shorter trips, with 54% of survey respondents saying they’d prefer more short breaks to fewer longer stays. Sixty-one percent also said travel is “critical to their emotional well-being,” according to Booking.com.

That jibes with findings from the Skyscanner-Braze-Apptopia survey, which queried not only Americans but people in the Europe-Middle East-Africa and Asia-Pacific regions, as well. Sarah Spivey, chief marketing officer at Braze, said that prior to Covid, 75% of U.S. travelers said vacations were important to them.

“This level of importance prior to the pandemic reflects U.S. consumers’ desire to travel as restrictions are lifted,” she said, noting that 33% of Americans feel comfortable traveling, compared to 13% of Asia-Pacific and 20% of Europe-Middle East-Africa residents. “While consumers from other regions appear more cautious, Americans are eager to travel.”

Spivey said that increased willingness also shows up in greater online travel agency app usage in the U.S. compared to other major markets. Use of such smartphone apps is up 41% compared to pre-Covid times.

“The contrast between U.S. [app] usage to that of Europe and Asia can be attributed to a greater willingness to travel overall, and subsequently a greater recovery in its travel industry,” she said.
