Cornyn’s remarks came after the New York Times columnist wrote in The Morning.that the Democratic Party no longer has a clear immigration policy. “

“While Donald Trump was president, he removed internal tensions among the Democrats because they could unite against him. Trump used racist language; Democrats hated it. Trump separated families and caged children; Democrats promised to end this policy. Trump said he would build a border wall that Mexico is paying for; Democrats mocked his failure. Last week, Minister of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas was asked by lawmakers about the Biden government’s reaction to the situation on the border as the country sees an influx of migrants seeking asylum.

“Most are single adults who, according to the CDC’s health department, will be deported to Mexico within hours,” Mayorkas said in the opening speeches. “Families arrested at the border will also be expelled immediately under the same health authority, unless we are faced with temporary restrictions on Mexico’s reception capacity.”

He added that the situation was “undoubtedly difficult”, but his staff was “Work around the clock to manage it and it will take time.”
