Jaden Smith plans to open a restaurant in LA that may feed the homeless totally free

One thing about Jaden Smith is that he’s always in his philanthropy bag. About two years ago, on his 21st birthday, Jaden started a food truck initiative called “I Love You”. According to Complex, its goal was to provide free “healthy, vegan food” to people in the “Skid Row area of Los Angeles”. Now the musician and actor is expanding his original idea to include a restaurant that feeds the homeless for free.

“Our mission is to spread the love of communities affected by food and / or housing insecurity by offering water along with fresh, high-quality and delicious options for sustainable meals,” said a statement on the official website of the Restaurants.

Jaden spoke to Variety about his latest venture and provided insights into how he plans to keep the new business going.

“It’s for the homeless to get free food,” said Jaden Variety. “But unless you are homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you also have to pay more than the food is worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”

As mentioned earlier, Jaden is no stranger to the world of community service. In October he started a project called The Water Box. Complex reports state that it is a filtration system used to purify water in order to gain access to a required resource where it is needed most. Jaden Flint, Michigan, used the system to donate the equivalent of around 300,000 bottles of water.

As you may know, Flint has experienced a severe water crisis in recent years that left 12 people dead and more than 80 sick. In January of this year, several charges against former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and eight other government officials and officials were announced.

Jaden seems to believe in small steps that lead to big changes.

“I see this as one of many steps to bring about change in our world,” wrote Jaden on the official website of his restaurant.
