Immediately marks the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah’s dying

Roommate, today is a very sad day in the world of music as it is officially 20 years since R&B singer / dancer / actress Aaliyah tragically died in a plane crash at the age of 22. To celebrate her life and career, fans have flooded social media with memories of her brief but incredibly impressive career.

One of the most notable ways Aaliyah’s memory is celebrated on the 20th anniversary of her death is by publishing her full catalog of music. Her groundbreaking second album “One In A Million” hit streaming services for the first time on August 20, with her final album “Aaliyah”, the soundtrack to her 2000 feature film debut “Romeo Must Die” and more in the next Weeks of streaming services.

Although she has only released three studio albums, Aaliyah continues to have a huge musical impact on today’s artists, who often cite their music, style and image as a major source of inspiration. Although it’s been two decades since she unexpectedly died, the demand for and interest in her from fans has never really diminished. Her name is often mentioned and celebrated on social media as fans and celebrity friends continue to do whatever they can to keep their memories alive.

As we previously reported, “One In A Million” shot straight to number one and was trending on Twitter for hours as soon as it hit iTunes. The album was also made available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, and various other platforms.

Although we no longer have Aaliyah with us physically, her memory will live on forever thanks to the incredible work she has left – which is the bulk of her legacy.
