Gray’s April & Jackson make a large choice shortly earlier than he leaves

When Jackson wondered how she was going to get the news to her husband Matthew (Justin Bruening) April stunned him with the news that the couple had indeed split up and that Matthew was living in Philadelphia with his sick sister.

This led to perhaps the most memorable moment of the episode when the former couple held hands. “Cross your fingers for new horizons,” April said and Jackson repeated it back to her. Ugh, these two.

And if you said to yourself, “Wait, I wonder how Jackson will live in Boston and still be a key part of the show,” then you are ahead of us. Sure enough, a preview of the Thursday, May 20 episode, teased Jackson as he said goodbye to colleagues including Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo). Start sobbing.

When the May 6 episode aired on the east coast, ABC confirmed E! News that the May 20th episode will be Jackson’s last to star. In one with E! News, showrunners Krista Vernoff partially said, “We will miss Jesse terribly and we will miss Jackson Avery – played perfectly for so many years.”

In a recent interview with E! News, Sarah promised that Japril would enjoy a “nice” reunion that “will be very satisfying.” So far we’ve had to come to an agreement.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
