GOP Senator Rick Scott and Trump plead for now not threatening the GOP incumbents with principal opponents

Donald Trump was barely out of office, but he’s desperate to keep control of the Republican Party. The House of Representatives GOP members seem eager to give it to him. You recently stripped Liz Cheney of her leadership position for asserting herself against Trump.

Republican Senate members don’t seem so sure of Trump, however. While Lindsey Graham stayed on the Trump train, Mitch McConnell tried to leave the former president behind. And now Florida’s Rick Scott is asking Trump again not to interfere in the primaries.

Scott made the comments during an appearance on Brian Kilmeade’s radio show. He told the Fox host: “What I suggested to him is to let the citizens of that state choose their main winner. And then you help those who win, who he believes in. And so, but you know, he believes in things that I believe in. “

However, the Florida Senator made sure he turned to Trump after criticizing Trump. He went on, “I think these are the candidates we are going to get and I look forward to seeing him support the candidates he likes. “

Trump, of course, threatened any Republican who didn’t support his agenda. Scott wants him to support GOP members anyway. He concluded his comments: “I suggested that he support incumbents, all incumbents. When I give advice to someone, I don’t necessarily expect them to take it. “

Despite Scott’s pragmatic approach, Trump was never about the party’s wellbeing. The former president is much more interested in punishing those who opposed him than in regaining control.
