The drug manufacturers have tried to increase their production in the USA because President Donald Trump threatens to impose tariffs imported in the USA, which have announced that these taxes will be encouraged to enforce production after the domestic drug production has been urgently shrunk in the past decade.

In a publication on Tuesday, Eli Lilly said that the new work in Houston would focus on the production of Orforlipron and the pipeline of the company of other small molecules medication in various disease areas, including cardiometabolic health, oncology, immunology and neurosciences. Small molecule medication, which are often available in a pill form, are too convenient for patients than injectable medication and are generally easier and cheaper to produce on a scale.

Eli Lilly said that the site would bring 615 jobs to the Greater Houston area, including highly qualified engineers, scientists, operating staff and laboratory technicians as well as 4,000 building jobs.
