Each day US information on Might 24th

Nine states now have 70% of adult residents with at least one vaccine shot. Data released on Sunday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the nationwide number of cases and deaths in Covid has continued to decline.

The seven-day average of new infections is around 25,300 per day on Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University, a 24% decrease from a week ago. The country’s daily death toll, currently close to 550 per day, is also declining.

US percentage of the vaccinated population

About 49% of the US population had at least one shot, and 39% were fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

Of people over the age of 18 across the country, 61% are at least partially vaccinated. President Joe Biden’s goal is to get that number to 70 percent by July 4th.

The progress of vaccination varies from country to country. On Sunday, New Mexico became the ninth state to report that 70% of its adult residents had at least one shot, joining Vermont, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

That number is under 50% in 10 states, including Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Wyoming, all of which are under 47%.

US vaccine shots administered

Data from the CDC shows the US reports an average of 1.8 million vaccinations per day over the past week.

The White House’s partnership with hail-fighting firms Uber and Lyft begins Monday. Through the partnership, users can welcome free trips to and from vaccination sites.

US Covid cases

With about 13,000 cases reported on Sunday, the 7-day average of new daily infections in the country dropped to 25,270.

The seven-day average is down 24% from a week ago.

A CNBC analysis of the Hopkins data shows that the average number of cases in 41 states and the District of Columbia has decreased by at least 5% over the past week.

US Covid deaths

According to Hopkins data, the US has recorded an average of 546 Covid deaths per day for the past week, the lowest since July 2020.

The United States has counted more than 589,000 Covid deaths since the pandemic began.
