Breonna Taylor’s Household Information Lawsuit In opposition to Louisville Metro Police Dept

Say her name! The fight for justice for Breonna Taylor is far from over. Since her untimely death last March, when she was fatally shot while sleeping by former Louisville Metro Police (LMPD), her family, along with activists, have been applying pressure to receive justice. Breonna’s family is once again taking legal action against the department after they allege that the police are withholding vital footage that shows the incident that caused her death, according to The Daily Mail.

The Taylor family allege that police may have lied about the existence of body camera footage which captured the moment Breonna was fatally shot in a botched drug raid that happened at her boyfriend Kenneth Walker’s home. On Thursday, Attorney Sam Aguiar filed the lawsuit claiming that the officers at the scene of Breonna’s death were all issued body cameras, although the department says none had them turned on.

As we previously reported last September, new body cam footage was released regarding the aftermath of Breonna’s death. The footage shows that multiple police officers did not follow several department policies following her death. In addition, the crime scene was reportedly compromised. Reports stated that footage was captured by 45 different body cameras and included in the investigative file compiled by the LMPD’s Public Integrity Unit. This was also shared with Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

Attorney Aguiar has represented the Taylor family in the past and was victorious in winning the previous suit against the LMPD. The Taylor family sued them in a wrongful death settlement and received a $12 million settlement. Roommates, as of now, we will continue to keep y’all updated as new updates occur.
