Blake Shelton brings back all memories of everything he’s been through Adam Levine.
During the episode of The Voice on Monday March 22nd, Blake and his assistant coach did Kelly Clarkson both turned their chairs for the 21-year-old candidate Keegan Ferrell, who performed a stirring rendition of Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved”.
After the song, Blake tried to get the candidate on his good side by playing off his friendship with the Maroon 5 frontman, not to mention a fictional feud between Kelly and Adam.
“First of all, I happen to be a friend of the man who wrote and sang this song, and I want you to take a look at this coaching panel for a second,” Blake said, referring to himself, Kelly. Nick Jonas and John Legend. “Notice who’s missing and who’s in that chair. Now I’m not saying Kelly Clarkson fired Adam, but … he’s gone and she’s sitting there, OK?
Despite Kelly’s protests, Blake kept up with the strategy and even somehow managed to get the other coaches to lend a hand. “She’s got a talk show on the network,” said John.
