Travis Barker reconsidering air travel, more than 12 years after surviving a fatal plane crash.
In September 2008, the now 45-year-old Blink 182 Already afraid of flying, drummer boarded a private plane in South Carolina to fly to the Los Angeles area. The little jet rolled over the runway, hit an embankment, and went up in flames. Travis and friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein escaped through an emergency exit. They were the only ones who survived the crash and suffered severe burns. The remaining four people, including two other friends of the drummer, died.
On Friday June 25th, Travis accidentally tweeted, “I could fly again,” and added an airplane emoji.
The rocker has not flown since the crash. He takes buses to concerts in North America and has traveled several times on cruise ships since the accident to go on a European tour with Blink-182.
Travis was hospitalized for three months after the accident and treated for third degree burns on 65 percent of his body. Travis sprinted his body on fire from the burning kerosene down a burning highway. DJ AM helped put out the flames with the shirt off his own back, Men’s Health reported.
