Trae Tha Reality acquired the Change Maker Award
H-city get up! Rapper, philanthropist, and activist Trae Tha Truth stays on the front lines of his community by providing resources to those in need. Time and again, he does everything he can to serve the Houston community, be it during the holiday season, by giving something back through his team, the Relief Gang. Or through his organization “Angel By Nature”, Trae lives up to its name!
Tonight he was the second recipient to receive the Change Maker Award at the Billboard Music Awards, and his work no longer deserves the award. Tina Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother, introduced Trae and named him Superman. “Trae Tha Truth is a Houston legend with a heart the size of Texas. He’s a talented rapper, a voice for social change and a true humanitarian whose work touches cities across the country, ”said Tina. “His name is so apt because Trae really is the truth.”
Trae approached the stage, looking sharp in a navy suit. He gave a moving speech. “Nothing has ever been promised from where I come from,” said Trae. “I’ve always said if I ever got into a position I would be there for those in need, whether it’s helping the little homies in music, helping people in need or just being on the front lines to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. “
He dedicated the award to several of his close friends, including fallen rappers Nipsey Hussle, DMX, and Lyric Chanel, whom he considers his niece. If you remember, Trae was very close to the teenager who died of brain cancer in March. In her honor he released a music video entitled “Lyric Forever”.
Congratulations again, Trae!
