Mary J. Blige & Beyoncé lead nominations for 2022 Soul Prepare Awards

It looks like it’s almost that time of year again when some of your favorite stars are recognized and honored at the Soul Train Awards. The nominees for this year’s awards ceremony were announced on Thursday, and Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige lead with seven nominations each. Mary released her latest album Good Morning Gorgeous in February and is currently touring the country in support of the project. Beyoncé has released her highly anticipated album, Renaissance, which has become an instant classic.

Behind Mary and Bey is none other than Ari Lennox, who received a total of six nominations. Lizzo, who is currently touring, received five nominations and Chris Brown, who released his latest project Breezy in June, also received five nominations.

Other artists who have been nominated include Muni Long, Burna Boy, Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic and many others.

Deon Cole was also announced as the presenter of this year’s awards ceremony. Discussing being this year’s emcee, he said:

“Hosting the Soul Train Awards is a dream come true. I grew up on Soul Train and to this day I have never encountered a Soul Train Line that I have not blessed with my skillful Two-Step. It is truly a privilege to receive this opportunity to celebrate the legacy of Don Cornelius, all the amazing black talent that lit our screens on the iconic TV show, and my favorite music genres: soul, R&B and hip hop.”
