After the time jump between seasons four and five, De La Garza joined the series as Gabrielle and Carlos’ daughter Juanita and remained with the series until the series finale. Since Desperate Housewives is the younger half-sister of Demi Lovato is an adult (she turned 18 in December 2019) and has appeared in the films “Caged No More” and “Gnome Alone” as well as in series such as “Good Luck Charlie” and “Bad Teacher”.
De La Garza has been open about the hatred she felt for her appearance while on Desperate Housewives, which she said led to her developing an eating disorder.
“I spent hours reading comments,” she recalled in a 2023 episode of the Heart of the Matter podcast. “They said things like they wanted me to die because of how I look. It was like, ‘Ugly fat cow. And I hope you get cancer and die because you’re so fat.’ And just terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible things. And that was when I was 6, 7, 8 years old.
“My first memory of trying to starve myself was when I was seven years old,” she continued. “A lot of it came from reading these comments. My family had no idea this was going on. My mother had no idea that I was seeing these things, that I was reading these things, because I was very, very sneaky.”
In September 2024, she announced that she was expecting a baby Ryan Mitchell. Unfortunately, the child has a daughter named XiomaraShe died later that month after being delivered via emergency cesarean section, the actress said the following October.
