Snow Days Bring Worries for Adults
Tuesday was a snow day, and I spent it at work.   (Thursday, December 18, 2008)

What Is Real Purpose of Animal Law?
In Section 1-3 (purpose) of the proposed Torrance County animal control ordinance it states: "It is the intent of the County Commission that enactment of this ordinance will: 1. Provide for the safety, preserve the health. Promote the prosperity and improve the morals, order, comfort and convenience of the County and its inhabitants."   (Thursday, December 18, 2008)

Let's Get State Police Out on the Road Again
Where do you think a State Police officer can do the most good: pulling over erratic drivers and testing them for drunken driving, or sitting in a room for up to three hours while a motorist fights to keep his or her license in an administrative proceeding?   (Thursday, December 18, 2008)

It's Time To Fork Over All that Unspent Pork
Consider it a treasure hunt.   (Thursday, December 18, 2008)

Kudos and Thanks for Quick Response
Getting a new transportation department up and running wasn't an easy thing for the Moriarty-Edgewood School District to do.   (Thursday, August 28, 2008)

Edgewood Parade Turned Out Nicely
It would have been easy to be skeptical about a parade being staged in Edgewood along N.M. 344 from Edgewood Elementary School to Wildlife West Nature Park.   (Thursday, August 28, 2008)

AYP Status Doesn't Tell Whole Story
On August 21, 2008, an article appeared in the Telegraph that attempted to summarize the information presented at the Public Adequate Yearly Progress meeting held and led by me on August 14, 2008. This meeting is mandated through regulations of the 2001 No Child Left Behind Act and is intended to provide public information regarding the math and reading proficiency of students in grades 3-8 and 11 as measured through the New Mexico Standards Based Assessment. The ultimate goal is that 100 percent of all tested students will demonstrate proficiency in both reading and math by the year 2014, and predetermined proficiency targets decide a school's proficiency status for a given year.   (Thursday, August 28, 2008)
