Pintos Seek Head Basketball Coach

Moriarty High is looking for a new head boys basketball coach.

Teaching positions in either social studies or science, that would be connected with the coaching job, might be available, according to a news release from Joe Butler, the school's athletic director. Head varsity high school or above, or significant prep assistant coaching experience is preferred.

Position is open through April 9. For information or to submit a résumé, call Butler at 832-5947.

MESD Fundraiser Has Truck Prize

The Moriarty-Edgewood School District Athletic Department's annual truck raffle fundraiser continues. The drawing will be held April 21 at 5:30 p.m. in front of the high school's John B. Salvo Gymnasium.

Tickets are $10 apiece. They're available at the high school athletic office, and from any of the coaches or student-athletes from Moriarty High School and Edgewood and Moriarty middle schools.

The big prize is a 2009 Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup truck. Other prizes include a four-wheeler all-terrain vehicle (second place), a driveway grade and gravel (third), a storage shed (fourth) and a utility trailer (fifth). There are also additional prizes, a list of which are posted in the high school gymnasium lobby and at the school's Web site.

Ten thousand tickets are available for sale, and all profits will go to benefit the district's athletic programs, said Joe Butler, the district athletic director.

Gymkhana Rodeo Continues in April

The Mountainair Gymkhana Rodeo youth series continues with its second rodeo April 18. The other dates are May 16, June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1.

Estancia Valley Rodeo Dates Set

The Estancia Valley Rodeo Association recently announced its 2010 youth summer series dates in a news release.

This year's rodeos will be held on May 29-30, July 3-4 and Aug. 14-15. All the 2009 rodeos were at Moriarty's Heritage Arena.
