CARLOTA GARCIA DIAL

Carlota Garcia Dial, was born in Mathis, Texas, on Nov. 4, 1942, to Jesus and Elogia Garcia. She was the fifth of 10 children. She began picking carrots, cabbage, broom corn and cotton at just 12 years old to help support the family. Charlotte met Almer (Buster) Dial when she was 20 years old while he was stationed in Killeen, Texas. Her first child was born two years later. Nathan was just 3 years old when she became gravely ill. Being the fighter that she was, Charlotte went on to have two more daughters despite doctors telling her that she wasn't able. Nathan, Tina and Lillian gave her many grandchildren, whom she spoiled. She was the No. 1 Dallas Cowboys fan and would let anyone know that. Music was a big part of her life and no matter how much pain she was in, dancing seemed to magically heal her legs and feet. She kept up with the current entertainment, but Elvis Presley was always No. 1 to her. Charlotte supported the Estancia Bears since 1974. Charlotte will be remembered for her awesome floats in every parade, her different hats and the latest gossip. Each of her many friends have a story about Charlotte, whether good or bad. Charlotte is watching us right now as she cruises Heaven in her golf cart. There was a funeral service on Jan. 13 at the Estancia High School Auxiliary Gym, with Pastor Jonathan Richard officiating. Pallbearers were Jesse Sedillo, Lalo Carpio, Samuel Chavez, Emi Acosta, Dennis Spangler, and Danny Barela. Honorary Pallbearers were Andy Luna, Brian Crider Jr., Dustin Kayse, Abraham Carreon, Daniel Chavez, Manuel Urban, Anthony Sanchez and Carlos Lopez. Burial followed at the Estancia Cemetery.
